A recent recipient of the Swiss Young Artist Award, Jansen Ryser performs across Europe, the United States and Japan. Praised for his musicality, his playing has been described as “combining natural pianism, musical sensitivity and poetic eloquence.” He made his debut at the age of fifteen on the prestigious stage of the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, and has since performed at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Kursaal in Bern, the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna, the Stravinsky Hall in Montreux, Act City Hamamatsu and Steinway Hall in Tokyo. A regular concerto soloist, he recently performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Basel Symphony Orchestra at the Stadtcasino Basel.

Invited by numerous festivals, he performs as a soloist and chamber musician at Lavaux Classic, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the Heidelberger Frühling, the Voltakammermusikfest, the Week-End Musical de Pully, the Interfinity Festival, the Plovdiv International Chamber Music Festival, Les Jardins Musicaux in Cernier, Vienna Young Pianist, Art et Musique in Sierre, as well as the MUSAG Festival in Granada and the Martes Musicales in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

A passionate chamber musician and Lied pianist, he collaborates with Basile Ausländer, with whom he records an album for Aparté in 2026 dedicated to Poulenc, Honegger and Enescu, as well as Sophie Negoïta, Äneas Humm, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Ayla Şahin, Chiara Sannicandro, Martina Morello, Jonathan Leibovitz, Silvia Simionescu, Izabel Markova, Martin Egidi, Tim Crawford, Anthony Fournier and Uxía Martínez Botana.

Born in 1994, Jansen Ryser grew up in the northern Vaud region of Switzerland and began playing the piano at the age of five. A graduate of the Geneva University of Music and the Juilliard School in New York, where he studied thanks to the generosity of the Theodora J. Nicolas Piano Scholarship, he worked with Matti Raekallio, Sylviane Deferne and Adrian Kreda. He completed a postgraduate degree in Lied Collaboration at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. He received the 2017 Filipinetti Prize for the best solo master’s degree and furthered his studies with distinguished musicians such as Paul Badura-Skoda, Eberhard Feltz, Andreas Staier, Franz Helmerson and Nelson Goerner.

Jansen Ryser is a recipient of the Leenaards Foundation Cultural Grant, the Kiefer Hablitzel Göhner Music Prize and support from the Dénéréaz Foundation. He completed his studies at the Basel University of Music and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where he studied in the class of Claudio Martínez-Mehner.
